Ellon Primary School:‘We stand as EPS: Engaged, Positive, Supported’
Family and inclusivity are incredibly important to us at Ellon Primary School (EPS), and our house system is a key part of this. It's designed to build relationships among all members of our school community, fostering a strong sense of cooperation—one of our core values.
Every pupil is a member of one of our four houses, which are named after local landmarks. Our staff remain impartial, ensuring fair play in all competitions.
Our Houses:
Modley
Forvie
Ythan
Ebrie
Modley: Named after the Modley Burn, this house is inspired by the small river that flows through our local landscape. The burn is a constant presence, showing us how consistency and a steady flow can lead to big things. Modley House represents perseverance and reliability, always moving forward to reach its goal.
Forvie: Our Forvie House takes its name from the magnificent Forvie National Nature Reserve, famous for its stunning coastal dunes and diverse wildlife. This house embodies adaptability and resilience, much like the plants and animals that flourish in an ever-changing environment.
Ythan: Ythan House is named after the River Ythan, the heart of our community. The river is a meeting place, a source of life, and a strong, flowing body of water. Ythan House embodies connection and teamwork, reminding us that we are stronger when we work together.
Ebrie: Ebrie House is inspired by Loch Ebrie, a beautiful and often peaceful loch. It represents a deeper, more reflective kind of strength. Ebrie House members value wisdom and calmness, knowing that success frequently comes from thoughtful consideration and a quiet determination.
Modley: This house is all about perseverance and reliability. These traits directly link to being Resilient (REACH) and striving for Achievement (REACH). They show that a steady effort, just like the flow of a burn, leads to great things. The Modley Burn’s dependable nature also connects to the school's aim of Achievement is celebrated (CARE), as their consistent effort deserves recognition.
Forvie: Inspired by the resilient nature of the reserve, Forvie House embodies adaptability and resilience. This directly aligns with the Resilient value in REACH. Their ability to thrive in a changing environment also reflects the aim of Curiosity drives learning (CARE), as they must constantly observe and learn to adapt.
Ythan: The River Ythan is a symbol of connection and teamwork. This directly ties to the Connected value in REACH and the school aim that Respect shapes our relationships (CARE). Just as the river brings the community together, this house represents the power of working as one to achieve a common goal.
Ebrie: This house's calm strength from the loch makes it a great symbol for wisdom and calmness. This links to the Honest value in REACH, as true honesty requires a clear, calm mind. It also connects to the aim that Every voice counts (CARE), because thoughtful and considered voices, like a peaceful loch, are often the most profound.
